Position: Life Skills Coach

General Description:

The Resident Services Life Skills Coach is responsible for providing program participants with assistance and education in independent living skills.

Our goal is to keep program participants safe and healthy in the place they want to be the most -- their home! With your assistance, program participants will continue to live long, healthy, and prosperous lives.

Principal Duties:

  • Teach and assist program participants cleaning skills.
  • Teach and assist program participants nutritional based food shopping and cooking skills.
  • Teach and assist program participants with budgeting and time management skills.
  • Teach and assist program participants with appointment scheduling and time management skills.
  • Teach and assist program participants with organizational skills.
  • Conduct group sessions to educate participants on the topics listed.
  • Assist participants with transportation as needed.
  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the program participants.
  • Interface with care management teams to promote the program.
  • Maintain necessary records and reports.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Hand over hand assistance may be required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Human services experience, which may include working with homeless, mentally ill, low income and other at-risk populations.
  • Education/teaching experience preferred.

Education: High school diploma/GED required. Computer literacy and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid NYS driver’s license.

Physical Demands : Must be able to climb multiple sets of stairs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

Salary: $21.64 ($45,000 annual)

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
