Department Histopathology

Shift Day Monday - Friday 9:00am- 5:30pm rotating every 5th Saturday. Day off during the week when scheduled to work Saturday

Preferred Experience Must have at least 3 years of experience working in a Surgical Pathology Gross Room accessioning into Beaker LIS assisting residents and PA during their Gross dissection, preparing Frozen Sections for Pathologist review, daily quality control of tissue processors. Grossing of biopsy samples.

Job Summary

\n

The Histotechnician 2 prepares specimens for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis. They perform technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, records, and documentation with minimal supervision.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n

\n
• Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations.
\n
• Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
\n
• Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
\n
• Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.
\n
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
\n
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
\n
• Demonstrates and educates laboratory practices and technical skills to others.
\n
